Gunnar Glasses: Join the craze!

This is yet another thing that I have been getting lots of comments and questions about while I sit at work but in this case my husband gets all the credit. He was the guinea pig with trying these out and when he decided that they were pretty fantastic he got me a pair too.

I find it funny that there has been so much interest lately because I’ve had them for almost two years now. I guess they must have finally gained traction or something.

Like normal I won’t bore you with the long gushy tale that you mostly just scroll past so you can get to the wrap up We’ll be quick and dirty about it and then you can keep on reading if you’re bored. Or nosy. Or both. I usually fall into the last category.

So here goes. I don’t know if anyone would regret NOT buying them necessarily. I don’t know if they prevent migraines and mine don’t block sunlight. They aren’t prescription and they aren’t sunglasses and I don’t wear them every second.

But.

I don’t think I could stand to look at a computer for as long as I do and NOT wear them. They help my eyes focus. They keep them from getting tired and I honestly think that it’s protecting my vision from getting worse. I don’t have any proof for these claims and everything I’ll tell you is purely anecdotal. But there’s something to be said for personal experience. And I like them. A lot.

So my recommendation is try them. Try a cheap pair. Splurge and get yourself a nice pair. But if you spend any amount of time on a computer they are worth looking into. It’s nice not to feel so tired at the end of the day.

These glasses first gained popularity with gamers. Gamers stare at screens for 8-12 hour stints and eye strain can impact game play. So why not try to prevent that? The Gunnar brand specifically has been around since 2007 and was started by someone who was just like us and was tired of the eye strain that he got whenever he stared at a computer all day. Now there are so many different brands to choose from and a ton of them are available online and even from regular eye doctors. You can get prescription or non prescription and tinted or clear options. There’s even pink and blue tinted glasses for helping with UV rays from the sun. It’s crazy how huge it’s gotten.

My husband started hearing the buzz online and looked into them. He stares at a computer all day too and his eyes were starting to get fried by the end of the week. He got a basic pair and started wearing them during the day. After a while he noticed that his eyes weren’t as tired as they used to be. I noticed that they weren’t as red. He still gets home and wants nothing to do with a screen but he doesn’t come home looking like a zombie. So when they went on sale (and had a style that I liked) he got me a pair too.

At first I didn’t really notice a difference. They were just tinted glass but having anything in front of my eyes messes with my depth perception so I had to take them off constantly. I was getting really tired of my screen being fuzzy all the time, though, so I persisted. Slowly my eyes adjusted to the strange color and I was able to wear them for longer periods.

At this point I would get complements on the frames and how nice they looked and a couple people would comment on the yellow color “woah why are your glasses yellow?”

Fast forward to now and the comments that I get are more like, “Are those the screen glasses?” Their popularity has exploded and I have at least 2-3 people every week now asking if I like them and if they really work. My answer is typically what I said already. Personally I love them. I take them off whenever I get up from my desk but when I sit down they go right back on again. I’m thinking about getting a second pair for home. They have some SUPER cute ones now. :)

If you want to check them out click here for their website. Or just go to amazon or google and search for screen glasses to see other options. There’s lots.

Have you tried these? Let me know!
